On 12th July 2022, the Royal Gazette published a press release issued by the Bermuda Police Service about a police officer who was injured after a rider drove at police who had chased him after he failed to stop at a traffic check.

According to the Bermuda Police Service, officers were conducting road traffic checks on Southside Road, St David’s, at about 12.40am on Friday.

They attempted to stop the rider of a motorcycle clocked at a speed of 67km/h who refused to stop. A chase ensued but officers lost sight of the suspect when they reached Chapel of Ease Road.

A police spokesman said: “An area search was conducted and the subject was found hiding on his bike behind a wall.

“The rider attempted to evade police by driving at one of the officers, one of whom sustained injuries to his arms and legs.

“The suspect, who was subsequently arrested, was found to be underage and riding a motorcycle, which following checks, was found to have previously been reported as stolen and was fitted with fraudulent licence plates.”
