Bermuda's "Pink and Blue"

We've been asked to verify the veracity of a story from probably the late 1960's or early 1970's when a certain police officer on night duty in a Traffic car had a most unfortunate encounter with a "Pink and Blue" on Flatts Hill in Smith's Parish.  Here's an eye witness account of the encounter from the bus driver:-

'It was around 6.20 and I was driving the first bus out that morning. I was driving east down Flatts Hill just past the post office. I had one male passenger on board and we were talking.

'I saw the police car on the other side of the road coming up the hill. It wasn't driving fast and I was just crawling along. I saw there was just the driver in the police car. I then saw the officer's  head fall down onto his chest and the police car started to drift over into my lane.

I stopped my bus and put the handbrake on. I just waited. I couldn't do anything about it. I couldn't get out of the way. The police car hit me full-on and stopped. The officer raised his head and shook himself. He got out of his car and came to me. He wasn't injured. There was only light damage to both vehicles. He got on his radio and called for his sergeant and then he was directing traffic around us.'

We wonder if anyone can confirm the identity of the police officer in question who was said to have a penchant for going to sleep at the wrong time, and provide any other details.
