We were deeply saddened to hear the news from his home in Scotland of the passing of our good friend and former colleague, Donald “Donnie” MacMillan who served here in the  Bermuda Police from 1978 – 1987.  “Donnie” had previously served in the Glasgow Police before coming to Bermuda where he served first in Central Division (Hamilton), then in Operations (Traffic)  where he spent some time as driver for His Excellency the Governor.  “Donnie” was a Mr. Fixit  and worked for a while as “apprentice” to fellow Scotsman Malcolm “Malcy” Smith at Police Headquarters.

“Donny” was a very well liked colleague who kept himself fit and enjoyed playing football for several teams including the Police Recreation Club team in the Commercial League.

On behalf of all of our members we extend sincere condolences to Donnie’s family and will keep you informed of funeral arrangements.
